Cats are not like dogs they are more indepemdant. Many people believe that cats cannot be trained to do simple things like dogs can. This is not true cats can be trained to recognise their name, as well as the come on command.

The main rule of cat training is to be patient and spend time with the cat. 10 - 15 minutes a day should be spent training the cat EVERY DAY.

Do not confuse the cat consentrate on one trick at a time until you think they have got the hang of it. Like dogs, cats should be rewarded every time they correctly perfom a trick. Use the cats favorite food or a treat as a reward and once they have learned the trick only reward them every so often.

Training your cat should always be done before mealtimes, as a food reward wont be so enticing on a full stomach.

Make sure that there are no distractions for the cat during training, turn off the telly and radio so you have their full attention.

Dont spend too much time training 10 - 15 minutes is perfect. Any longer then the cat may get bored.

Make sure that all the training is the same and the cat will recognise the different patterns and will learn quicker.

And remember be patient!
